Chiropractic manipulation encompasses a broad range of treatments that focus on restoring motion to a joint that is not behaving properly. This can be done with a quick adjustment, known as a high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA) thrust, often resulting in a “crack.” Alternatively, this can be performed as a much slower oscillating movement that can vary in depth depending on patient condition and need. Although an audible crack is not often produced with this type of adjustment, it can be equally effective and is more appropriate for some patients. But don’t worry about learning all of the nuance, we’re here to help decide which is the best route for you.
While chiropractic manipulation is often thought to be all that chiropractic care has to offer, we take a more holistic approach to help you feel better faster and stay better longer.

This service is commonly referred to as massage therapy and is integral to our chiropractic treatment style. By helping to relax tight muscles prior to performing chiropractic manipulation with a combination of effleurage, trigger point therapy, cupping, massage gun and more, we are able to perform more effective adjustments using less force, making them more comfortable for the patient.
While soft tissue work will always be a part of our chiropractic sessions, full length massage appointments with a massage therapist will be coming soon!

Therapeutic exercise, or physical therapy, is an important part of our treatments at Thrive. While manipulation and soft tissue therapy on their own are often sufficient to help our patients feel better, we like to go a step further: we want you to stay feeling better.
Each patient throughout the course of their treatment will learn a customized routine of stretches and exercises designed to prolong the effects of their hands-on treatment. Our goal is to give you the tools and the power to maintain your wellness on your own!

Whether you’re dealing with headaches, neck pain, knee pain, back pain or something else, the root of the problem often comes down to activities of daily living. We’re not here to tell you to stop doing what you love or to change your profession, we’re here to help you understand how to make small tweaks to the way that you do things and to your ergonomic setup so that you can do them without causing you pain. We’re not interested in simply putting a bandage on your problems, we want to figure out how to make them go away and stay away.

Mechanical traction is the process of mechanically pulling apart two vertebrae in order to take pressure off of the disc between. For many causes of spinal pain, especially disc injuries, traction can be a gentle and extremely effective fix.
-
Much like mechanical traction, flexion distraction is a therapy that allows us to gently decompress the spine. It was originally developed to address conditions such as disc injuries and spinal stenosis that put pressure on the nerve roots exiting from the spine, causing back pain as well as shooting pain into the arms or the legs. While it excels at addressing these issues, it goes a step further.
Flexion distraction employs a sequence of repetitive, rhythmic movements in order to achieve spinal decompression, but it also allows us to simultaneously stretch the paraspinal musculature. While nerve-root compression causes primary back pain and radiating pain, it can also cause us to tense the muscles around the injury in order to guard from further damage. Flexion distraction is an efficient and effective way to address both issues: take pressure off of the nerve root, and relax the surrounding musculature.
